For twelve years, I have served as a Salinas City Councilman. The Third District encompasses South Salinas, including downtown and industrial complexes south of the city. Prior to which, I served as chair of the Salinas Planning Commission, Vice Chair of the Design Review Board, and Vice Chair of the Traffic and Transportation Commission. I advocate strongly for public safety, neighborhoods, arts, and culture. I represent the City of Salinas on the Monterey Bay Air Pollution Control District (Chair), the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (Immediate Past-Chair), Central Coast Community Energy (Chair) and the California Vanpool Authority (Chair). I served four years on the Hartnell College Board of Trustees and three years on the Salinas Police Community Advisory Committee. I hold a Masters in Agribusiness Administration from Santa Clara University and a BS in Soil Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. In 2005, I opened McShane’s Nursery & Landscape Supply. In 2014, I became a partner in Converted Organics of California. Prior to that I worked in agribusiness for both NewStar Fresh Foods and Taylor Farms. I sold my ownership in Converted Organics in 2020 and Sold McShane’s Nursery & Landscape Supply in 2021. In late 2021, I began as CEO of the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce. I have completed several community and industry based leadership programs and take great pride in my community. When not working or volunteering, I enjoy spending time with my wife, daughter (Molly) and son (Patrick). I enjoy, traveling, hiking, and gardening.
